Using your head is more than a saying in Africa. So I'm starting a list of all the extraordinary items I pick out upon the heads of people that have passed me by. 1. Desktop computer - Hohoe 2. Weathering the digital divide in Ghana has been the principal challenge to setting up a minimal ICT center in Hohoe. A limited ICT infrastructure, obsolete computer equipment and periodic meteorological freak-outs are some of the obstacles in promoting computer literacy and a new media skillset in rural Ghana.

MY FIRST SOLO TRIP IN GHANA WAS A WEEKEND JOURNEY TO CAPECOAST. AN EFFORTLESS WAY TO GET THERE IS FROM THE STC BUS STATION BUT BY 10 AM THEY HAD SOLD OUT ALL THERE AVAILABLE SEATS. THE HUSBAND OF PRO-LINK’S DEPUTY DIRECTOR HAD BEEN SHEPERDING ME AROUND GHANA FOR THE PAST WEEK AND WAS DETERMINED TO GET ME A SEAT. NO LUCK. SCHOOL WAS STARTING BACK AND CAPECOAST WAS AN ACADEMIC TOWN.

We're driving about an hour east out of Accra to Sogakofe. On the way, we pass the town of Ada and the shipping yards along the coast line. Ahead of us there is a line of cars backing up. Our car is waved through a police post at the edge of the town and we drive down the main road. There is not much of anything to the Pro-Link office when we arrive. Four concrete walls and a tin roof.
